Is my data really private?
LLM inference runs 100% on your Mac. Your files, messages, and commands never leave your machine. The only things that go out are the requests listed in the network table in the Privacy section — verify it yourself in the network activity panel in Settings.
Does it work offline?
Yes. File search, calendar, messages, music, and system controls all work without internet. Only the items listed in the network table in the Privacy section need a connection.
Is the beta really free?
Yes. Every feature, no limits, no time bomb, until the full release.
What Mac do I need?
Any Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later) running macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later, with 8GB of RAM or more — from MacBook Air to Mac Studio.
Will it slow down my Mac?
Alchemist-nano is a lightweight model optimized for Apple Silicon (Metal GPU). For instant responses it stays resident in memory — with the default install (router model only) that's about 0.5GB on an 8GB Mac, or about 1.6GB on a 16GB+ Mac, which gets the more accurate router. Adding the summary model puts roughly 2.2GB on top. With the summary model installed, Memory Saver mode in Settings unloads it while idle.
Will it cost money after launch?
Yes — it goes paid at the full release. It's a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Sign up for the launch email during the beta and we'll send you a 34% discount code. Beta builds stop working a while after the full release — the code is valid until that same day — the app shows you how long is left, well before it does.
